Tom Caulfield

Tom Caulfield is a Principal with Novo Advisors. He has over 30 years of C-level operational management, interim management, turnaround and restructuring experience. Mr. Caulfield is especially valued by his colleagues and clients for his leadership, keen insights, and the key drivers to achieve results and create value.

Mr. Caulfield’s career reflects financial and operational management experience including working with CPG’s and big box retailers for numerous clients and as a CFO for both domestic and international businesses. He is considered by his clients and colleagues to be a problem-solver, profit enhancer, and strong communicator. He has assisted over 100 businesses ranging in revenues from $15 million to $1 billion. Mr. Caulfield has earned the reputation of working collaboratively with management, ownership, and Boards of Directors on opportunities to improve performance, profitability, and cash flow. Mr. Caulfield’s experience includes development of business plans, cash flow projections, SKU profitability analyses, zero based budgeting, job costing, and inventory/supply chain management, Mr. Caulfield has also led efforts to pursue sale/leasebacks and recapitalizations to improve the cash position of companies. Additionally, Mr. Caulfield has led sale processes, quality of earnings reviews, executive searches, buy-side/sell side diligence support, and business integration plans.

Prior to joining Novo, Mr. Caulfield was the CFO for 13 years of family and private equity owned businesses. In the family-owned company, he assisted in efforts with the management team to grow the Company from $50 million to $225 million. He subsequently helped the family sell the Company in several discrete transactions, resulting in a significant return to the shareholders. For the sponsor owned companies, Mr. Caulfield led the effort in acquiring an add-on company in Germany, negotiated and secured the credit facility to finance the acquisition and support the company’s growth strategy. Additionally, he led the integration plan post the acquisition. Prior to his CFO roles, Mr. Caulfield was a Senior Partner with Silverman Consulting for 17 years, where he assisted in the engineering performance improvement plans and turnarounds for underperforming companies nationwide. Mr. Caulfield began his career as an auditor with Wolf and Company and later with Price Waterhouse Coopers.

Mr. Caulfield has served on several boards and is active with numerous local non-profit organizations. Mr. Caulfield has been a guest speaker at several banks, private equity forums and the SF Net Conference. Mr. Caulfield received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. Mr. Caulfield was the 83rd overall pick in the MLB draft by the Oakland A’s and later signed with the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball organization.
