TODD HAWKINS is a Managing Director at Novo Advisors based in Arizona with more than two decades of experience as a transformational and turnaround operations executive with expertise in improving performance across manufacturing, supply chain, and organizational transformation. His unique combination of engineering skills and operational knowledge make him especially adept at helping clients navigate periods of change, financial distress, and growth.
One of Todd’s most significant accomplishments was leading the operational turnaround and eventual sale of Royal Paper to Sofidel America in 2025. Working alongside Novo Advisors, lenders, and the executive team, he helped develop and execute a turnaround plan focused on inventory optimization, product rationalization, organizational realignment, and operational improvement. The transaction ultimately returned all equity to the lending group while generating meaningful returns for stakeholders. In 2026, this transaction was awarded the Section 363 Sale of the Year ($100 to $250 million) by M&A Advisor.
During his tenure at Royal Paper, Todd led a broad range of strategic initiatives, including SKU rationalization, ERP implementation, organizational restructuring, supply chain optimization, vendor negotiations, capital expansion projects, and the wind-down of underperforming assets. He also improved OTIF performance from 66 percent to 90 percent within twelve months, executed a warehouse exit with a seamless inventory transition, and optimized a 100-unit trailer network across four logistics partners. His leadership improved operational efficiency, strengthened profitability, and helped position the company for a successful sale.
Following the acquisition, Todd was retained as Chief Operation Officer (COO) of Sofidel Royal, where he led the integration of Royal Paper into Sofidel America. He oversaw the successful integration of finance, operations, supply chain, human resources, quality, environmental health and safety, and sales functions. Equally important, the transaction preserved employment for more than 450 employees across four manufacturing facilities, ensuring operational continuity and long-term stability.
When working with companies in crisis, Todd takes a practical, data-driven approach. He believes successful turnarounds begin with a clear understanding of strategy, performance metrics, execution gaps, and opportunities for improvement. As a former client of Novo Advisors, he understands firsthand the challenges leadership teams face and emphasizes empathy, transparency, and clear communication throughout the process. His engineering, commercial, and operational experiences enable him to develop practical, actionable solutions that deliver measurable and lasting results.
Todd is passionate about solving complex problems, developing high-performing teams, and helping organizations achieve sustainable results. His leadership mantra is simple: “Stop admiring the problem.” By making informed decisions with the best available data, acting, and adjusting direction, when necessary, he has built a career defined by results.
After earning a degree in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University, Todd began his career as a Facilities Engineer at Intel. The discipline, teamwork, accountability, and process-driven management principles he developed there continue to shape his leadership approach today. He later expanded his commercial and operational expertise as an Account Manager at Nalco before joining Royal Paper, where he advanced through leadership roles including Mill Manager, Vice President of Operations, and Chief Operating Officer.
Todd’s leadership philosophy is shaped both by professional experience and early exposure to his family’s lumber business, which reinforced his belief that sustainable success is built through resilience, accountability, and execution. His father served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of a diversified middle-market enterprise that included a kiln-dried sawmill, timberland, agricultural land holdings, trucking operations, and a pellet manufacturing plant. Through firsthand exposure to these businesses, Todd gained an understanding of the cyclical nature of commodity-driven industries and the importance of navigating both growth opportunities and economic downturns. Just as influential was observing a practical, results-driven leadership style that emphasized accountability, hard work, sound decision-making, and a long-term commitment to employees, customers, and the communities the business served.
